Diploma of Completion in European Medical Massage Therapy

  • Become licensed massage professionals in the state of Pennsylvania

The certificate of completion in massage therapy will qualify a student to sit for the licensing exams as required by the Pennsylvania State Board of Massage Therapy.

The educational objectives for 9 months diploma in European Medical Massage Therapy verify that a student will be competent to:

  • Perform an advanced-level Medical Massage using Medical Massage, Orthopedic, Clinical Assessment, Kinesiology, and  Swedish Massage therapy techniques.
  • Demonstrate client communication, client consent, and client safety skills
  • Design an adequate SOAP (Subjective Objective Action Plan) chart notes and treatment plan
  • Recognize medical conditions in which massage therapy is contraindicated and/or hazardous to the client
  • Apply the knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology during a massage therapy session
  • Demonstrate an understanding of biomechanics and kinesiology as they relate to bone, cartilage, tendons, and muscle tissue
  • Evaluate and utilize the information received from a client’s health history intake form
  • Implement a safe and effective massage therapy session based on the client’s health interview
  • Demonstrate appropriate client/therapist boundaries in accordance with the Pennsylvania State Board of Massage Therapy rules and statutes that define Ethical Standards
  • Demonstrate professional and business ethical boundaries
  • Identify a variety of bodywork modalities
  • Understand the basic concepts of a business

A student that completes 786 hours at the European Medical School of Massage in medical massage therapy will be competent to:

  • Perform a massage using a variety of massage therapy modalities and  strokes
  • Demonstrate excellent client communication, client consent, and client safety skills
  • Recognize and refer to medical conditions in which massage therapy is contraindicated and/or hazardous to the client
  • Apply the advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology during a massage therapy session
  • Demonstrate a proficient understanding of biomechanics and kinesiology as they relate to bone, cartilage, tendons, and muscle tissue
  • Evaluate and utilize the information received from a client’s health history intake form
  • Implement a safe and effective massage therapy session based on the client’s health interview
  • Design competent SOAP (Subjective Objective Action Plan) chart notes and treatment plan
